As confirmed by the Government of Tigrai to Dedebit Media, only 60 aid trucks have arrived in Tigrai as of Thursday 14th and Friday 15th of April 2022.  Since December last year only 86 aid trucks have entered Tigrai to date (16th April 2022).  The need for aid provision to Tigrai, according to WFP is estimated to be a 100 trucks of aid per day, which in the 120 days that passed since mid-December 2021 would amount to 12,000 aid trucks that should have entered Tigrai and should have been distributed to those in need by now. The 86 aid trucks that entered Tigrai amount to 0.7% of the total needed which are 12,000 aid trucks with different supplies of food, medication, and fuel.  This means that 99.3% of the need for aid in Tigrai hasn’t been met leaving many in immediate need of aid in horrible circumstances.  This is a drop in the ocean, if that, and shows how uncommitted the Ethiopian government has been in delivering aid to Tigrai. However, the Ethiopian government has used the 0.7% of aid it has let into Tigrai for political propaganda consumption while millions are suffering due to aid delay. The Ethiopian government should be called out for its reluctance in delivering aid to Tigrai and not be encouraged to continue on its current path that is causing thousands to die and many to suffer as each day passes.
