Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has sent a message of congratulations to newly elected President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The election is being recognized as a new stepping stone in the face of the peace and stability crisis in the country and beyond. Considering former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo’s involvement in the Tigray Genocide, many are hoping that the new president, who had a strong relationship with the Ex-Ruling party of Ethiopia – EPRDF, especially in their partnership on the operations held against terrorists in the region during his last presidency (2012-2017), will play a major role in correcting what went wrong.
Professor Kindeya Gebrehiwot, a long-serving president and a leader known for his remarkable leadership at Mekelle University explained the victory of H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as follows:
The victory of H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud @HassanSMohamud as the 10th President of #Somalia is a landmark for the Region. Congratulations! The ousted Ex-President Farmajo has been an accomplice of #TigrayGenocide by sending 5000 troops to #Tigray. The unholy alliance of Terror is crumbling. There will be accountability, sooner or later.
