The Tigray Development Association (TDA) has reached a time when it is difficult for parents to educate their children in Tigray due to the human and material losses and drought caused by the genocidal war against the people of Tigray. Mr. Tesfaye, director of TDA, said that TDA has launched a fundraising campaign under the theme of “One Person for One Child” to help parents and millions of Tigrayan children in need . The funds will be raised in a coordinated and participatory manner, he said, adding that the funds raised can be donated not only in cash but also in any kind of child-centered materials. Mr. Tesfaye said that TDA will work to rebuild the damaged educational institutions to ensure the speedy recovery of Tigray. Most of the educational and health institutions that the association had built with its members and supporters for 30 years before the genocidal war against the Tigrayan people were destroyed by the forces of extermination.
Head of the Tigray Education Bureau, Dr. Kiros Guesh, said most of the educational institutions built by the Tigray Development Association, the Tigray People and Government and others have been destroyed by the forces of genocide. He said education in Tigray, which was suspended for nearly four years due to the war and coronavirus, will resume with many obstacles. “We are aiming to solve the problem in the education sector of Tigray gradually,” he said, adding that priority is being given to repair classrooms, supply of educational materials and other related social problems. The key solution to these problems is a community cooperation, he said, adding that every Tigrayan should help the children of Tigray under the theme of “One Person for One Child”.
