Ato Israel Kasa, the coordinator of the Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice Party (EZEMA) in the southern region of Wolayta Zone, was arrested by the police for a “related dispute” with the joint council of political parties in the zone. Ezema asked the National Election Board of Ethiopia to take action to release the coordinator of the party’s Wolayta zone.
The coordinator of Ezema in Wolayta zone in the southern region was arrested by the police yesterday, the head of the party’s legal and member welfare department, Ato Seum Mengesha, told “Ethiopia Insider”. The head of the party’s department explained that when Mr. Israel was arrested by the police, the reason for his suspicion was not explained to him.
On the other hand, the Joint Council of Political Parties of Wolayita Zone said that Ezema’s coordinator was arrested by the police in connection with the same council that he used to lead. Abraham Tona, the deputy chairman of the council, told “Ethiopian Insider” that Mr. Israel who was the chairman of the Joint Council of Political Parties in the Walayta Zone since November was relieved of his duties due to the “election of new leaders” in April.
