His talks revolved around the efforts to achieve lasting peace in northern Ethiopia, Tigray.
Anthony Blinken expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Ethiopian government to restore unlimited humanitarian assistance and basic services in Tigray and neighboring Afar and Amhara regions. However, this is something that no one can find it on the ground. The people of Tigray are still starving, under siege and IDPs are still under UN shelters, while they were supposed to return back to their homes as a result of the Pretoria Peace Agreement.
Blinken reaffirmed that the United States is committed to monitoring and verifying the implementation of the African Union Led Agreement and supporting the process implementation as a whole.
To implement the ‘ Pretoria ‘ Agreement to end the conflict on a permanent basis; The Tigray Forces’ heavy weapons disarmament should be carried out simultaneously with the withdrawal of foreign forces from the region. However, Blinken didn’t mention the failure of the Ethiopian government to fulfill this. Foreign forces, the Eritrean Soldiers, and the so called none-ENDF forces – mainly the Amhara forces are still in Tigray, committing all kinds of atrocities day and night! Our Sources confirmed today that these all foreign forces are still where they were, in the land of Tigray, in Western Tigray, and parts of South Western, Southern, Central Eastern and South Eastern Zones as well.
