The bomb was thrown at a pub in Kebele 15, Daero Pub, on the 25th of August 2023, at around 2:00 am.
According to police, the suspect is not arrested yet. Mekelle City Police Office Head Commander Woldey Mawcha ; “Heavy security has been maintained in the city in conjunction with the Ashenda festival,†he said. “On Sunday, however, a deadly bomb attack took place in the city of First Uprising Sub-City, causing death and injuries to several people,†he said. Dedebit Media’s sources confirmed that 5 people died and other 20 injured. Ayder Referral Hospital received all 20 people injured in the bomb attack at 2 am. Police confirmed that the explosion was an F1 bomb. He explained that the target of his attack was “a man who was drinking with a lady who used to sleep with the attacker”. Police is still in search of the attacker.
