A coup d’état was staged in Gabon. ” We are determined to establish peace by eliminating this corrupt administration ” – Gabonese soldiers. Last Saturday, elections were held in the African country of Gabon, in which President Ali Bongo was told he had won. But his country’s military has announced plans to overthrow President Ali Bongo in the wake of elections.
Meanwhile, military leaders appeared on national television station ‘ Gabon 24. One of the soldiers who appeared on the television station said, ” We are determined to establish peace by eliminating this corrupt administration. “The administration is irresponsible and does not recognize how we are going,” he said. National television reported that 12 soldiers overthrew President Ali Bongo and annulled the election results. President Ali Bongo received two-thirds of the vote while his country’s electoral commission was in office and won the election.
But the opposition says the election was rigged. Ali Bongo’s family have led Gabon for 56 years. During these years Ali Bongo alone has led his country for 14 years..
At the moment, Gabonese soldiers have taken Ali Bongo as a house arrest. Ali Bongo, then, posted a video message to his friends and fans saying “please make noise for me”, sitting inside his house. Even though the person who posted his video (presented below) on social media is not known yet, President Ali Bongo urged every friend and fan of him to let the world know that he’s at risk, including his wife and son. He said his wife and son are somewhere else, while he himself is in his house.
Coups d’état are frequently reported in various African countries. Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso have been plagued by coups in recent years.
