Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki is allegedly attempting to destabilize the Horn of Africa by inciting tensions and conflicts, particularly by fostering hostility between Semitic- and Cushitic-speaking communities, according to Ambassador Dina Mufti, a former spokesperson for Ethiopia\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, now serving as a member of the Foreign Affairs Standing Committee in the Ethiopian House of People\u2019s Representatives.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Dina Mufti, a member of the Ethiopian House of People\u2019s Representatives, warned, “He should not be allowed to continue in his effort to destabilize Ethiopia and the broader Horn of Africa.”<\/p>\n
Writing on the Horn Review website, Ambassador Dina claimed that “Isaias Afwerki\u2019s current project is focused on bringing together ethnic militias from the Tigray and Amhara region, under a coalition that he leads to overturn the federal government in Ethiopia, which he claims is subservient to external forces.”<\/p>\n

Ambassador Dina further accused President Isaias Afwerki of attempting to fuel animosity against the Oromo community in Ethiopia, by invoking “Oromummaa,” a concept he allegedly does not fully understand.<\/p>\n
“Condemning the president\u2019s interference as \u2018not limited to words,\u2019 Ambassador Dina stated that he was \u2018providing material support to forces that are fighting against the Ethiopian government with weapons\u2019 and warned that \u2018it will have disastrous consequences.\u2019<\/p>\n
