The Tigray Land and Minerals Bureau has announced that it will provide housing to veterans within three years.
It has been announced by the Tigray Land and Minerals Bureau (TLMB) that they will allocate land for Tigrayan heroes who fought during all three phases, to receive housing within a three-year period.
The Tigray Land and Minerals Bureau, in partnership with the Tigray Veterans Commission, has outlined the strategy for implementing the Veterans, Martyrs’ Families, and Veterans’ Families Regulations.
Kalayu Gebrehiwot, the head of the Tigray Land and Minerals Bureau, stressed that the beneficiaries of the land are heroes who participated in the 17-year liberation struggle, the Eritrean war, and the Tigray genocide war, and did not act against the interests of the Tigrayan people.
The directive, No. 7/2017, outlining the Rights and Benefits of Heroes, Martyrs’ Families, and Heroes’ Families Regulation, has been prepared by the Tigray Bureau of Land and Minerals.
The veterans will be provided with land based on where they lived before fighting, in their hometown, or where they were residing during the conflict, according to Kalayu.
Nasser Memhur, Deputy Commissioner of the Tigray Veterans Commission, announced the formation of a medical panel tasked with distinguishing between permanent full and partial disabilities.
The implementation will give priority to martyr veterans, those with permanent full disabilities, and those with permanent partial disabilities, all within a two-year period. The remaining veterans will receive their benefits within three years.
The application order will be based on the family of martyr veterans, followed by permanent full disabled women, permanent full disabled men, permanent partial disabled women, permanent partial disabled men, female veterans, male veterans, and veteran families.
The decision-making process for these regulations involves input from both the government and the people, with the people and security forces of Tigray being consulted, according to Memhur.
He emphasized the importance of recognizing the heroic contributions made by these veterans and underscored the approval and ongoing implementation of the regulations.
