On the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Genocide, the Tigray Genocide Research Commission has issued a plea to the international community. The Tigray Genocide Research Commission highlighted that mass killings, torture, kidnappings, various sexual assaults, and displacement of children from their homes have all been intentional acts to annihilate the ethnic Tigrayan population.

The commission also revealed that other efforts to eradicate the Tigrayan people have been carried out, including the deliberate deprivation of basic services in a systematic manner to eliminate the population by putting under complete siege.

The commission also stated that the genocide in Tigray meets the criteria outlined in the 1948 International Covenant on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, the commission referenced a document from the American Research Institute as evidence.

This decision aims to raise awareness about the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide and advocate for the rights and dignity of genocide victims.
