The TPLF has announced that their 14th party congress was held in early August 2024. During the congress, the party outlined strategies to overcome challenges and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the national interests of the people of Tigray are at the forefront of decision-making within the interim administration.

In a yesterday statement, the TPLF revealed that they have evaluated the leadership representing them in the interim administration. The assessment focused on political weaknesses, corruption allegations, and failure to effectively carry out their duties. As a result of this evaluation, discussions were held with the Ethiopian government on November 19, 2024, to address leadership changes within the administration.

On December 5, 2024, representatives of the TPLF and the interim administration engaged in talks with the prime minister and other senior government officials to discuss the transition of power. The central committee of the TPLF has proposed nominating a new president from the Tigray army to navigate the current political climate. However, the Ethiopian government has requested a two-week review period before finalizing any decisions regarding the president’s appointment, according to the TPLF.

The TPLF has further declared that the appeal made by a group engaging in acts of national treason, separate from the TPLF and a few other individuals with aligned agendas, to the federal government, by manipulating the national interests of Tigray, has been deemed an unforgivable act of national treachery in history.

According to the TPLF, this group has clearly proven its disloyalty to the nation by advocating for ideas that jeopardize the existence and security of the people of Tigray.

The group has demanded the federal government to integrate the Tigray army into the Ethiopian army alongside security reforms, to unify the Tigray army under the interim administration until the DDR is implemented, and to dismiss the district and city councils as well as other dangerous treasonous pleas made by the interim administration, as stated in the TPLF’s official statement.

Additionally, the TPLF highlighted that instead of taking responsibility for preventing or resolving the mining issues in the Northwest Zone, the group has shifted the blame onto the party leadership and the army, repeatedly urging the federal government to deploy Ethiopian troops in the Northwest Zone under the guise of protecting the relationship between Tigray and Eritrea.

Overall, the TPLF has stated that the group is working tirelessly to diminish the capabilities of the people of Tigray and put them in grave danger. This group is making concerted efforts to achieve its destructive goals by appointing individuals who have been involved in various crimes, opposed the Tigray struggle, hold various grievances, and perpetuate backwardness and localism.
