The strike occurred at 11:00 a.m. and targeted two sub‑cities: Hawelti and Quiha. Victims sustained both minor and serious injuries and are receiving treatment at Ayder Comprehensive Specialized Hospital. Among the injured were five children, including a three‑year‑old child, Yonatan Hadush. Our sources confirmed that all victims were inside their homes when the drones struck.

The bureau reported that the federal government has conducted repeated drone attacks in Tigray since February, raising fears of a return to war. Troop deployments along the borders with Afar and Amhara have further heightened concerns of a possible invasion.

At the same time, Tigray faces a worsening humanitarian crisis. The federal government has withheld budget allocations, fuel, and cash transfers, leaving communities unable to sustain essential services. Families are struggling to meet basic needs as economic activity collapses.

Compounding the hardship, the region is experiencing an El Niño‑induced drought that threatens to leave more than three million people at risk of hunger. Officials warn that the combination of military escalation and climate stress could push Tigray into deeper instability.

The Communications Bureau urged international actors to recognize the gravity of the situation and press for renewed dialogue to prevent further civilian suffering.
