Dedebit Media’s diplomatic sources report that Tigrayan forces and their allied forces have carried out a coordinated drone-strike campaign against Ethiopian federal military and air-force installations at multiple locations, including Addis Ababa, Bishoftu/Debre Zeit, Bahir Dar, Kombolcha and Semera.
The reported strikes represent a significant expansion of the conflict beyond the northern front and demonstrate the reported ability of the opposition alliance to reach strategically important military and aviation facilities deep inside Ethiopia.
Independent conflict-monitoring and international reporting provides substantial corroboration of the broader campaign. ACLED has documented suspected drone strikes against the ENDF air-force facility at Bishoftu, the Kombolcha airport, and an ENDF base near Bahir Dar airport.
Critical Threats Project has likewise reported a series of drone strikes targeting Ethiopian air facilities, including Harar Meda Air Base in Bishoftu, Kombolcha, Semera and Bahir Dar, followed by reported strikes against military facilities in Addis Ababa, including the ENDF headquarters.
Reuters separately reported that explosions were heard in Addis Ababa on September 30–October 1 and that a source linked to the Alliance for Survival claimed responsibility for drone attacks targeting federal military headquarters. Reuters noted that it could not independently verify the claim at that time.
The emerging evidence therefore points to a multi-location drone campaign against Ethiopian federal military infrastructure, although responsibility for individual strikes and the precise involvement of each member of the Alliance for Survival—including the TDF—should be distinguished carefully.
Dedebit Media is continuing to verify the operational details, including the specific targets, damage assessments and the respective roles of Tigrayan and allied forces.
