The Chairman of the Tigray peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) Dr. Debretsion G/Michael said that the leaders of the TPLF and Eritrea had an informal discussion.

 In his press conference held last Tuesday, he said the Eritrean authorities and the TPLF held their first meeting six months ago in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.  During the discussion, Dr Debretsion said that the president of regional interim administration participated in the discussions held in Dubai on behalf of the TPLF.

 Dr. Debretsion also indicated that after the first meeting in Dubai, further meetings were held with Eritrean leaders, without specifying the date and place.  It has been reported that the TPLF’s aim to create peace is to “make peace with all our neighbors, including the Fano forces and the Eritrean government”.  Dr. Debretsion added that this discussion with Eritrean government officials was approved by the TPLF Executive and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

The (TPLF) chairman stated that the security problem in the bordering areas of Tigray and Eritrea has been resolved in the discussion, but other important issues will be resolved by the federal government.
