António Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General, arrived in Addis Ababa to attend the annual United Nations and African Union conference.
António Guterres arrived in Addis Ababa to attend the eighth annual meeting between the United Nations and the African Union. He is set to co-chair the meeting starting today, Monday, October 21, 2024, with African Union Commissioner Moussa Faki Mahamat.
The meeting will primarily focus on implementing the cooperation framework between the two institutions. It will also address common challenges related to peace and security, development, human rights, and climate change in Africa.
According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary General was welcomed at Bole International Airport by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Birtukan Ayano and Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations.
