The US State Department Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, spoke to Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed on the phone.

“Political dialogue is essential for the resolution of ongoing civil conflicts in Ethiopia,” said Anthony J. Blinken during his phone conversation with Prime Minister Abiy, according to a statement from the spokesperson.

The statement also mentioned that the US is “concerned about the ongoing conflict in the Amhara region.”

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson, November 4, 2024, Anthony J. Blinken spoke to Prime Minister Abiy on the phone regarding the Pretoria Peace Agreement. The statement indicated that Anthony Blinken stated, “America is ready to help Ethiopia’s efforts to implement the peace agreement.”

In a statement issued by their office’s spokesperson, the US Secretary of State and Prime Minister Abiy mentioned that they discussed the ongoing tension in the Horn of Africa.
