The Global Society of Tigrayan Scholars and Professionals (GSTS) has issued a statement urging the Tigray security forces to seek peaceful resolution to political tensions within the region. The GSTS commended the unity of the people of Tigray and the commitment of the Tigray Defense Forces (TDF) to uphold the cessation of hostility agreement and protect Tigray’s vital interests. While the GSTS denounced the defamation of all TDF leaders, it also stressed the importance of transparency and investigation into allegations of corruption, illegal activities, and human rights violations involving some TDF leaders. The aim is to address any misconceptions about the institution and its members.

The GSTS expressed concern over the insecurity, lawlessness, and exploitation of natural resources in Tigray, highlighting the devastating impact on the region’s inhabitants and environment.

The Global Society of Tigrayan Scholars acknowledged the sacrifices made by the people of Tigray to ensure their survival. The association explained how current political differences among TPLF leadership are impeding progress in addressing the challenges faced by the people of Tigray. It emphasized the need to prioritize unity for the full implementation of the Pretoria Agreement, safeguarding Tigray’s sovereignty and returning internally displaced persons and refugees.

The association called on the leaders of the Tigray leadership to prioritize the needs of the people and focus on unity rather than internal power struggles. They should work towards a brighter future for the people of Tigray by placing their interests at the forefront.

Similarly, the Union of Tigrayans in North America has called for the implementation of the Pretoria Agreement and the return of Tigray’s sovereign territory in accordance with the constitution and the agreement.

In a statement, the Tigrayan Association of North America expressed concern about the movements creating disorder and riots, stating that such actions violate the law and constitution, and could lead to the destruction and disintegration of the Tigrayan people. The association emphasized the need to halt speeches and incitement that encourage disorder and emphasized the importance of following the law and order, with accountability for actions that go beyond legal boundaries and endanger the welfare of the people.

UNTA strongly urged for the correction and restraint of anti-unity speeches that undermine the unity of the Tigrayan people, noting that such rhetoric promotes localism and goes against the principles of unity. The statement added that those with legal and moral responsibility to address these issues will be held historically and morally accountable.

The Union of Tigrayans in North America (UNTA) emphasized the importance of unity and self-determination for the Tigrayan people, warning against acts that undermine these rights. UNTA called for the people of Tigray to strengthen their unity to ensure the existence and security of the region.
