Three political parties in Tigray have come together to demand an end to the ongoing efforts to weaken the region by exploiting and destroying its resources.

The National Congress of Great Tigray, the Tigray Independence Party (TIP), and the Arena Tigray for Democracy and Sovereignty (ATDS) released a joint statement today. They highlighted the results of their surveys conducted in various zones of Tigray region, identifying mineral looting, insecurity, and the live of displacement individuals as major issues facing the people of Tigray.

According to the statement, the political parties have gathered evidence that shows the plundering and destruction of Tigray’s resources and minerals, with involvement from foreign entities. This exploitation poses a serious threat to the security of the local population.

Furthermore, the parties expressed concerns about the arrest and torture of individuals who speak out against the theft of resources. They also accused government officials, entrepreneurs, and military leaders of interfering in mining operations and suppressing peaceful organizing within the community.

The parties highlighted the challenges faced by farmers, including the destruction of their land due to chemical use and the loss of livestock from food shortages. They also emphasized the urgent need for support for displaced individuals, many of whom are struggling to survive.

Regarding the issue of the displaced peoples, the parties stated that the lives of the displaced people are in dire straits, and they are dying every day to a lack of proper assistance and support.

In regard to the security situation in Tigray, several political parties have expressed their concerns. They highlighted that the current conditions have prevented people from moving and working freely in different areas of Tigray. Moreover, they pointed out instances where individuals have willingly committed crimes against their own people.

In a joint statement, the political parties also addressed the issue of theft and embezzlement occurring in various parts of Tigray, warning that if left unchecked, it could deplete resources and leave the region in a state of depletion.

The parties urged Tigrayans both within and outside the country to unite and speak out against these injustices, advocating for accountability and an end to the recurring violations against the people of Tigray. They emphasized the need for an inclusive administrative system to be established in order to address these issues effectively.
