The TPLF top leadership recently held a two-day meeting to discuss current issues and the future direction of the party’s struggle. They emphasized that they were forced into the struggle against genocide and that war was not their choice. The TPLF’s stance on peace remains unwavering, despite what they described as slanderous accusations from other forces.

The top leaders reiterated their commitment to peace with the people and government of Ethiopia, as well as with the people of Afar, Amhara, Eritrea, and all neighboring peoples. They expressed their firm belief and aspiration for ongoing peace and cooperation with these community.

Regarding the Pretoria agreement signed between the TPLF and the federal government, the leaders noted that invading forces still occupy Tigray, preventing the return of displaced persons and hindering rehabilitation efforts. They accused the Tigray Interim Administration of abandoning its responsibilities and betraying the Tigrayan people. Additionally, the leaders claimed a conspiracy to dissolve the TPLF and undermine the agreement.

The top leaders called on the Ethiopian government to adhere to the Pretoria Peace Agreement and the Ethiopian Constitution by allowing the return of displaced persons and refugees who fled to Sudan due to the genocidal war. They pledged to fight for the swift implementation of the agreement without further delay.

The Tigray Interim Administration has failed in fulfilling its responsibilities, according to statements made by the top leadership of the TPLF. They have declared their commitment to address the problems in Tigray. The TPLF leadership has asserted their right to adjust their 50+1 position within the interim administration and emphasize the significance of this moment in their struggle. They have stated that they will not engage in negotiations to prevent the looming existential threat in Tigray.

The TPLF leaders stated that the decisions made by the interim administration regarding TPLF, woreda councils, towns, stations, and the Tigray security forces is unacceptable and unimplementable. They call on all councils at every level to prioritize the interests of the Tigrayan people. Additionally, they urge the Tigray security forces to remain loyal to the public and to act as protectors of Tigray’s national interests and the legacy of fallen heroes.

The top leaders also announced that the unity of the people of Tigray is a fundamental institutional capacity of the people, reflecting both successes and failures in their history. However, a traitorous group that opposes the national existence of Tigray is actively working to divide the unity of the people within Tigray and the diaspora. This group is using backwardness and localism to try and create divisions, even going as far as declaring their intentions in the media. They are openly inciting, organizing, training, and mobilizing people to participate in potentially dangerous color revolutions in Tigray. This betrayal group is determined to disrupt the national unity of Tigray and put the people in harm’s way. As stated by the top leaders of TPLF.

The TPLF leadership has expressed concern over the destruction and looting of minerals, particularly in the Northwest Tigray region, where gold and other precious minerals are being illegally extracted using harmful methods. They have vowed to combat this issue and ensure that resources are protected, and corruption is eradicated. They have pledged to investigate any illegal activities and hold those responsible accountable.
