TIRA President Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede Starts Official Duties, Convenes Cabinet to Outline Next Steps

Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede, President of the Tigray Regional Interim Administration, officially commenced his duties in office and convened the administration’s cabinet to outline next steps.

According to information shared by the Office of the President, Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede held a regular meeting with the interim administration’s cabinet yesterday April 10, 2025. During the meeting, he provided directives and outlined work instructions for the activities to be undertaken in the coming months.

“In the near future, a public conference will be organized to address immediate solutions to the existing challenges,” the president stated. He emphasized that “all political organizations in the region, along with other members of society, must collaborate to advance the national interests of Tigray.”

The Office of the President also disclosed that Lt. Gen. Tadesse announced forthcoming adjustments in the leadership of the Regional interim administration, which is expected to be implemented shortly. He urged the cabinet to recognize the urgency of the situation, stating, “The time we have is very limited.” He further instructed each office to review their plans for the next three months and clearly define the activities to be executed over the next 12 months.

“The cornerstone of all our efforts must be the full implementation of the Pretoria Agreement,” the president asserted.

Additionally, Lt. Gen. Tadesse emphasized the importance of safeguarding peace and security in Tigray, revitalizing the region’s economy, and prioritizing good governance. He stressed the need for a strategic approach to achieve tangible results.

“We must set aside our differences and unite to ensure the survival and prosperity of Tigray and its people,” he urged. The president concluded by stating, “There are no winners or losers in this endeavor. We must strengthen our unity as Tigrayans and work together for the collective good.”
