The TPLF Chairman Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to collaborating with the interim administration to fulfill its objectives, while maintaining its institutional independence. Speaking at a forum organized by the party’s central committee on April 10, 2025, to extend best wishes, Dr. Debretsion expressed his support for President Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede, who recently officially commenced his duties as the President of the interim administration.

“We express our readiness to cooperate and support the interim administration in achieving its tasks within a short timeframe,” stated Dr. Debretsion. He acknowledged the interim administration’s clear mandate but criticized its failure to meet expectations, noting the harm caused to the people of Tigray.

Dr. Debretsion underscored the importance of adjusting the administration’s approach to align with the people’s expectations. He added, “We are prepared to work with the President to achieve the liberation of our people and our sovereign state from invading forces, ensure the return of displaced individuals, preserve peace and stability in the region, and expedite the rebuilding process to pave the way for governance by an elected government.”

President Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede, in his address, highlighted the need for mutual support and cooperation to overcome past challenges. He outlined a one-year plan for the interim administration, divided into three-month phases, to address priority issues.

“The current challenges in Tigray require collective efforts and the people’s involvement to leave a lasting legacy,” said President Tadesse. He reaffirmed the commitment of the interim administration and the TPLF to work together to address the region’s pressing issues.
