Sudanese Army Recaptures Strategic Al-Silik Area from RSF in Blue Nile State
— The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced that they have recaptured the strategic Al-Sillik area in Blue Nile State, near the Ethiopian border, from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
According to Anadolu Agency, the Sudanese Army’s 4th Division reported on Monday that it had taken control of the area following heavy fighting over the weekend. The operation was described as a “planned military offensive” that inflicted significant casualties and property losses on RSF fighters.
Military tensions in Blue Nile State, which borders Ethiopia and South Sudan, have escalated in recent months due to a tactical coalition between the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N). Sudanese authorities have characterized the attack as a “foreign invasion,” accusing South Sudan of allowing its territory to serve as a training ground and supply route for military equipment used by the attackers.
Khartoum has also previously accused the United Arab Emirates of supporting the RSF by establishing a military base near the borders of South Sudan and Ethiopia.
Meanwhile, fighting continues across multiple fronts in Sudan. The army announced that it has destroyed dozens of RSF military vehicles, along with fuel and ammunition depots, in operations on the Kordofan and Darfur fronts.
